Employee development is the process of training employees to continue making a valuable contribution to their company.

How does employee training differ from employee development?

Employee training helps employees learn specific technical or job-related skills to improve performance in their current job roles. Employee development focuses on employee growth by analyzing what employees are good at.

What are some ways to incorporate employee development in the company?

There are several ways in which HR leaders can encourage employee development organically:

1) Consider implementing a mentorship program that spans outside the department or even the office

2) Create a shadowing program that allows team members to learn from one another by observing a colleague’s role for a day, a week, or even a month

3) Offer professional development stipends to employees for completing development programs
